We write to advise you of a very significant and positive development in the life of our school; that the Board of (CKC) Anglican College and the Bishop of the Diocese of Wangaratta have reached ‘in principle’ agreement with the Perth-based Anglican Schools Commission Inc (ASC), that CKC Anglican College Cobram will join the ASC system of schools from the beginning of next year. This proposal is pending approval from the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority, the VRQA.

You may be aware that the Wangaratta Diocese owns CKC Anglican College Cobram and is a very small Diocese, with limited resources. Accordingly, it is restricted in its financial means to support the College’s necessary growth and development over the coming decade, especially the new capital facilities and resources we need to continue our growth phase. Our College is a valuable asset in the Diocese, and the Diocese is keen to see it experience strong growth. Significant positive infrastructure development will be possible under this arrangement.

The Anglican Schools Commission is recognised as one of Australia’s leading systems of independent schools, with over 13,000 students and 1,500 staff across their 13 schools in Victoria and WA next year. For the past thirty years, ASC schools have focused on academic excellence in a caring Christian environment, with first class facilities to nurture every student’s learning and educational experience. The move aligns the College with an entity whose primary role is to develop new and support existing Anglican schools.

2014 has already seen strong enrolments across the College throughout the year. We are extremely well placed from an enrolment and staffing perspective to offer the very best curricular and co-curricular programs into the future. The relationship with the ASC will see us positively situated to sustain and increase the growth experienced this year maintaining all the positive benefits CKC has become known for – on the same location, with the same uniform, with the same quality of care and a wider curriculum offering.

It is indeed a profoundly exhilarating time for Anglican College Cobram, and for the broader communities of Cobram and surrounding districts. Our school excitedly looks to a future with the ASC, and the wealth of experience and financial stability that will come with this relationship. Our plans to grow and develop the school to its full potential are greatly enhanced as a result of this development. Our commitment to providing each student entrusted in our care the very best education in the finest Anglican tradition, remains steadfast.

We appreciate that this announcement may come as a surprise to many, but a very positive announcement indeed. We are thrilled that the relationship with the ASC will put us in a much better position to make the necessary investment over the coming years to ensure that Anglican College Cobram continues to grow with the best possible physical facilities, staff and resources to educate your son or daughter. After all, it is for these reasons - our outstanding academic program, together with personalized support and care - that parents have chosen Anglican College Cobram for their sons and daughters.

We believe this is a positive and exciting development for our school, assuring our school’s future both by placing us on a better financial base and integrating Anglican College Cobram into a larger educational organization with a proven record over 30 years in the operation of P-12 schools.

As always, the Principal is available to speak with you personally about this or any other matter that affects your child’s education at Anglican College Cobram.
